We work exclusively with craftspeople in Ireland. From handweaving in Donegal, dying yarn in Kilkenny, and handknitting and sewing all around the country, we employ artisans with immeasurable experience in the art of clothing to produce sustainable, beautiful products with as limited an environmental impact as possible. Our mission is not just to design and produce exquisite children's clothing, but to promote and develop the skills of handcrafts in Ireland.
Our craftspeople work from home, and we are proud to create employment for so many talented pairs of hands. These are amazing people whose skills are not as widespread as they once were - if you are a knitter, crocheter, seamstress or weaver, we would love to have you involved with Elks. Some of our coloured yarn is dyed for us here in Ireland and we use luxurious alpaca and merino for most of our products. Our tweed is woven in Donegal by one of Ireland's longest serving weavers – we try to choose tweeds that best reflect the landscape where they were created. Our linen is exclusively Irish, and comes from internationally renowned mills that continue this beautiful weaving tradition.
We are currently developing our first range of hand screen-printed textiles for our spring-summer range, so watch this space. if you are interested in screen printing textiles and would like to work with us, please get in touch. We are looking to work with small, high quality Irish screen printers who are not afraid of huge rolls of fabric!
